$60 Million University Hall Rising on SUNY Binghamton Campus
The steel framework is in place for a massive classroom and lecture hall complex at Binghamton University.
Work on the $60 million project on the Vestal campus began about a year ago. The four-story 90,000-square-foot building - dubbed University Hall - will have 33 classrooms of various sizes.
The facility also will house a 300-seat lecture hall and a 180-seat lecture hall. It will add a total of more than 1,900 sites to the campus.
University officials last July said the project was planned for completion in June 2027. But that schedule has changed. It's now expected to be ready for use in the spring of 2028.
The general purpose classrooms in the complex will have between 20 and 75 seats. There also will be several testing rooms and group study rooms.
New York state allocated funding for the new educational center in 2022.
The new building should be fully enclosed when students return for the fall semester. Interior work then will get underway.
Hueber-Breuer Construction of Syracuse is the general contractor for the project.
