New Cadosia Fishing Access Site Boosts Trout Fishing In Hancock
Mention 'fishing' and you will find many people paying attention. Fishing is one of those things that many people love to do for various reasons. It's relaxing, it's what's for dinner tonight (unless you come up empty), it's social bonding (with others fishing, not the fish!)

The Southern Tier of New York and Northeast Pennsylvania areas are ripe with places to fish. One river that is very popular with anglers for trout fishing, is the West Branch of the Delaware River around Hancock, New York.
On July 15, 2024, it was announced by the New York State Department of Environmental Conservation and Department of Transportation, along with Friends of the Upper Delaware River that a new fishing access site has been completed.
The new Cadosia Fishing Access Site is located in Hancock on the West Branch of the Delaware River.
Known for its exceptional trout fishery, the Delaware River tailwaters support a healthy ecosystem and draw anglers from across New York State and the world. DEC is proud to partner with NYSDOT, Friends of the Upper Delaware River, and other state and local leaders to provide people of all ages and abilities the opportunity to enjoy this hidden gem in Hancock, which is often referred to as the gateway to the Delaware River. - Sean Mahar, New York State Department of Environmental Conservation Interim Commissioner
The NYS DEC notes that anglers will discover a variety of fish species from the Cadosia fishing access, depending on the water temperature of the Delaware River and the season.
Brown and Rainbow Trout will most likely be found in the river during cooler months, while Shad can be found mid-spring and smallmouth bass during summer months.
