Two Hurt in Head-On Crash on Binghamton’s West Side
A car that reportedly had been pursued by Binghamton police slammed into another vehicle on the West Side of the city.
The collision occurred around 3:30 p.m. Friday on Floral Avenue near West End Avenue, across the street from Boulevard United Methodist Church.
Reports from the scene indicated two people sustained injuries as the result of the crash.
A man who apparently was driving a car northbound on West End Avenue ran from the scene after the collision. Police officers found him a short distance away on Beverly Place, near the Binghamton-Johnson City border.
The man, who sustained a head laceration, was placed in handcuffs. Johnson City fire department medics provided initial treatment before he was transported to a hospital by a Union Volunteer Emergency Squad ambulance.
A woman who was in the vehicle that was struck was taken to a hospital by a Binghamton Fire Department ambulance.
Police closed a section of West End Avenue and Floral Avenue to allow detectives to process the scene.
Binghamton police investigators were unable to comment on the investigation late Friday afternoon.
