Binghamton New York Announces $9.3 Million Investment In City’s Infrastructure

Binghamton Mayor Jared Kraham detailed the plans during a visit with construction crews on Margaret Street on the city's west side. According to the announcement, The infrastructure plan comes in at approximately $9.3 million for the 2024 season to be used as follows:

• Milling and paving approximately 45 streets, estimated at $2.6 million
• Full street reconstructions, estimated at $790,000
• Water and sewer upgrades, estimated at $4.6 million
• Curb and sidewalk upgrades, including ADA upgrades, which are estimated at $1.3 million

This construction season, crews will be working in neighborhoods across Binghamton to improve our City’s critical infrastructure, from paving roads and repairing sidewalks to upgrading water and sewer systems. This year’s infrastructure improvement plan invests millions of dollars in bringing positive change to our neighborhoods, supporting good-paying construction jobs, and promoting growth across Binghamton. - City of Binghamton Mayor Jared Kraham

Water and sewer system upgrades will occur before streets are paved, as needed. Matthews Street, Mulberry Street, Vestal Avenue, Blackstone Avenue, Oliver Street, and Lydia Street will be a part of the 45 streets being milled and paved.

Mayor Kraham notes that the infrastructure improvement plan will be funded through a combination of Consolidated Local Street and Highway Improvement Program grant funding, Community Development Block Grant funds, federal stimulus funds, and local capital bonds.
