Armed JC Suspect Dives Through Window Trying to Flee Police
Authorities said a Johnson City man was injured when he dove headfirst through a glass window in an effort to elude police investigators.
The incident happened Tuesday evening at a residence at 57 Miriam Street on the village's North Side.
According to a news release, 34-year-old Carnel McCarden was armed with two handguns as he tried to flee when members of the Broome County Special Investigations Unit Task Force entered the home.
McCarden reportedly sustained cuts from the broken glass after diving through the window.
Investigators said McCarden possessed a loaded Beretta .22 caliber pistol and a stolen Taurus .380 caliber pistol.
When police searched the residence, they found crystal methamphetamine and drug paraphernalia.
McCarden was charged with three counts of criminal possession of a weapon and two counts of criminal possession of a controlled substance. He also was charged with criminal possession of stolen property and obstructing governmental administration.
McCarden was arraigned and sent to Broome County Jail pending further court action.
