Aliza Spencer Reward Fund Grows, 11 Months After Her Death
It's been nearly a year since Aliza Spencer was fatally shot near her Binghamton home and the reward offered in the case has increased.
The sixth-grade student at East Middle School died shortly after she was wounded while walking with her father and brother on Bigelow Street on April 21, 2022.
A $10,000 reward initially was offered for information in connection with the fatal shooting. The amount eventually grew to $29,500.
In recent days, signs promoting the reward in Spencer's East Side neighborhood have reflected a higher reward amount. A sign posted in front of East Middle School on East Frederick Street indicates the reward now is $31,000.
A new sign placed near the shooting scene reflects a total reward of $32,000. People with information about Aliza's death are urged to contact the Binghamton Police Department detective division at (607) 772-7080.
Investigators have released little information about the fatal shooting. They have not publicly identified a suspect in the incident.
City officials are expected to provide an update on the case and the increased reward fund soon.
