Looking for a Way to Give Back? Meals on Wheels in Broome County Needs Volunteers
If you’ve got an hour or two to spare around lunchtime during the week, Meals on Wheels could really use your help. They’re looking for volunteers, ages 18 and up, to deliver meals Monday through Friday, from 11:15 a.m. to 1 p.m. It’s a simple way to make a big difference in someone’s day.
Plenty of Local Routes to Choose From
You don’t have to go far because routes are available in Binghamton, Chenango Bridge, Kirkwood, Conklin, Whitney Point, Windsor, and Harpursville. They need drivers to deliver meals and visitors to hand them off and check in with people. You can do both or just one, whatever works for you.
Not Sure? Come Check It Out First
If you’re curious but not ready to commit, that’s okay! Meals on Wheels is hosting an open house from May 12 to May 16, between 10:30 a.m. and 12 p.m. You can stop by, see how everything works, and chat with some of the volunteers. No pressure, just a chance to see what it’s all about.
Where to Go
They’re based out of the Tabernacle United Methodist Church at 83 Main Street in Binghamton. If you’re heading to the open house, just use the Arthur Street entrance through the parking lot.

It’s About More Than Just the Meals
Here’s the thing: yes, you’re delivering food. But more than that, you’re delivering kindness, a smile, and sometimes the only conversation a senior might have all day. That connection can mean the world to someone.
A Mission That’s Been Making a Difference for Decades
Meals on Wheels has been around since the 1950s, starting with just a few people who wanted to help their neighbors. Now, it’s a national movement, serving over 2 million seniors every year. And it all runs on the power of volunteers, people like you who care.

You Can Be Someone’s Bright Spot
If you’ve been thinking about doing something meaningful, this is a great place to start. It doesn’t take much time, but it makes a huge impact. Swing by the open house, bring a friend, and see if it feels like a good fit.
