The countdown is on, as the NFL season is almost here, and football fans across the Empire State are feeling excited. Whether you're planning to go to MetLife or just want an excuse to wear your jersey in public again, now’s the time to start thinking about game day. If you’re a New Yorker, you’ve actually got one of the most affordable NFL experiences in your backyard.

The New York Giants Top the List

According to a new report from Hard Rock Bet, the New York Giants are the most wallet-friendly NFL franchise in the country. That’s right! #1 in affordability. The Fan Cost Index is just over $655. Sounds like a lot, but that number has barely moved in a decade. Since 2015, the cost has only gone up 4%.

The Jets Are a Close Second

If you're more gang green than big blue, you’re still in good shape. The New York Jets come in at #3 on the list, with a total game day cost of just under $595. That’s actually lower than the Giants’ total, but the cost increase over time has been a bit steeper. Still, it's good news for fans who want to catch a game without wrecking their budget.

Why This Matters for New Yorkers

If you’ve been holding off on going to a game because you thought it’d cost a small fortune, this might be the year to think again. Both the Giants and Jets have kept price hikes relatively low, especially compared to other teams across the country. The average increase in game-day costs since 1991 across the league is over 300%, and many teams are pushing that higher.

How the Rest of the League Stacks Up

Teams like the Dallas Cowboys, Patriots, and Ravens are also doing okay when it comes to price increases, but it’s New York’s franchises that are standing out. The Arizona Cardinals had the slowest long term increase overall but we aren’t taking a flight to Arizona for football season.

What’s the Game Plan?

If you’ve been on the fence about catching a game, this might be your sign. Whether you're a die-hard fan or just want to treat the kids to their first NFL game, the numbers say New York teams are keeping things relatively budget friendly, especially considering the size of the market. Besides, a hot dog always tastes better at the game.
