Unscramblerer.com studied Google search data from January 1st through August 17th. The company used the results to find the slang words that people in New York searched for most often.

“Chud” Is New York’s Most Searched Slang Word

The most searched slang word in New York was “chud.” It is an insult used to describe a fool, an internet troll or someone who is rude and unpleasant. “Larping” was second. It describes someone who is pretending to be something they are not. A person may be accused of larping if they act a certain way just to get attention.

Relationships Inspired Some of the Searches

“Bird” was New York’s third most searched slang word. It can be used to describe someone who makes foolish choices in relationships, such as staying with a partner who treats them badly.

“Chopped” came in fourth. It means that someone or something looks unattractive, undesirable or very rough. “Unc” ranked fifth. It is short for “uncle” and is often used as a joke about someone who seems old or out of touch.

Some of the Words Can Be Hurtful

“Torta” was the sixth most searched slang word in New York. It is sometimes used to describe a woman who is overweight, chubby or curvy. “Foid” ranked seventh. It is a hateful word used to insult women and should not be used.

“Based” was New York’s ninth most searched slang word.
