Not all medical professionals are getting the same level of trust in New York. A new survey from Grand Canyon University asked more than 2,400 Americans how much they trust different types of doctors and health providers. People rated them on a scale of 1 to 10, and the results show some clear favorites and a few that New Yorkers aren’t so sure about.

Neurologists Come Out on Top

In New York, neurologists the doctors who treat the brain and nervous system are the most trusted. They scored an average of 7.18 out of 10. That puts them slightly above the national average and shows that when it comes to something as serious as the brain, New Yorkers put a lot of faith in the experts.

Chiropractors Fall to the Bottom

On the other end of the list, chiropractors are the least trusted medical professionals in New York. They scored just 5.20 out of 10. That doesn’t mean no one believes in them, but compared to other health providers, New Yorkers seem more skeptical about spinal adjustments and alternative treatments.

What the Rest of the Country Thinks

Across the United States, the most trusted medical professionals are cardiologists at 7.34 out of 10. Neurologists are close behind at 7.31, followed by optometrists at 7.28 and surgeons at 7.25. Endocrinologists, who treat hormone-related conditions like diabetes and thyroid issues, also scored well.

When it comes to the least trusted, alternative medicine practitioners fall to the bottom nationwide with a score of about 5.14. Chiropractors come next at 5.53. Psychiatrists and psychologists also rank lower than many expect, even though mental health has become a big topic.

What It Says About New Yorkers

The results show that New Yorkers tend to put more trust in traditional medical specialists, especially those who work with the brain and heart. But when it comes to hands on treatments like chiropractic care or less conventional approaches, that trust drops fast.

Whether it’s personal experience, insurance coverage, or just skepticism, the numbers make it clear: in New York, not all doctors are seen the same.
