
New York Is Producing Some of America’s Biggest Social Media Stars
If it feels like New Yorkers are everywhere on social media, a new study suggests you're not imagining it. According to research from BetMGM Casino, New York ranks as the second biggest producer of online influencers in the United States, trailing only California.
New York Creates More Than Its Share of Influencers
They looked at the birthplaces of 2,000 of the world's most-followed content creators across platforms including YouTube, TikTok, Instagram, and Twitch. The study found that more than one in every 10 top U.S. influencers was born in New York. That's far above the national average. On average, each state contributes about 2% of America's most influential creators, while New York accounts for 11%.
Billions of Followers Start in New York
The most-followed New York-born creators have a combined audience of more than 2 billion followers across social media platforms. That's the second-highest total in the nation. New York creators average about 32 million followers each, making the Empire State one of the most successful places in America for internet stars.

Instagram Leads the Way
While, New York creators have large audiences across multiple platforms, Instagram appears to be the biggest driver of their influence. New York-born creators have more than 1.2 billion Instagram followers alone.
Some Familiar Names Made the List
The study highlighted several well-known New York-born creators and personalities, including Cardi B, Paris Hilton, creator Spencer X, and even the viral feline That Little Puff.

New York has been known for its impact on finance, entertainment, fashion, and media. Now, it can add another title to the list: one of the nation's biggest creators of internet celebrities.
