New Study Reveals New York’s Favorite Books
If you’ve been trying to find your next great read, a new study offers some inspiration, especially if you’re a book lover in New York. The researchers looked at Google Trends to see which bestselling books people in each state search for the most. The study looked at more than 200 books that appeared on the New York Times bestseller list to find the most popular titles across the country.
New York’s Favorite Young Adult Series
When it comes to young adult books, the study found that Percy Jackson & the Olympians is the most popular series among New York readers. The top book from that series in the state is “The Lightning Thief.” The story follows a young boy who discovers he is the son of a Greek god and must go on an adventure filled with mythology, monsters, and heroes.
A New York Favorite From the 21st Century
The study also looked at which New York Times bestselling book of the 21st century was searched the most in each state. In New York, the favorite was “The Brief Wondrous Life of Oscar Wao” by Junot Díaz.
The novel tells the story of a Dominican-American family and blends history, culture, and humor as it follows the life of a young man growing up in New Jersey while struggling to find his place in the world.
