Study Says Mets Fans Eat More on Game Days
If you are a New York Mets fan, game day might come with more snacks than usual. A new study found that Mets supporters eat a lot more calories when their team is playing.

The research was done by sports betting site The Lines, and they looked at the habits of 3,000 baseball fans across the United States. They wanted to see how much more people eat on game days compared to regular days.
Mets Fans Snack a Lot During Games
According to the study, Mets fans eat around 1,095 extra calories on game days. That is about the same as eating three hot dogs while watching the game. Fans also watched about 3.5 games each week during the season.
Those Calories Can Add Up Over a Season
Researchers estimated that if those extra calories continued through the entire MLB season, that could add up to almost 30 pounds of extra weight. This is based on a common rule used by nutrition experts that about 3,500 calories equals one pound of body weight. Everyone’s body is different, and things like exercise, metabolism, and diet play a role.
Game Day Food Is Part of the Tradition
For many baseball fans in New York, snacks are a part of the experience. Whether it is hot dogs, nachos, wings, or pizza, food and baseball have always gone hand in hand. With the baseball season underway, Mets fans will once again be settling in to watch the games. Just like always, the action on the field may come with a few extra bites along the way.
