Free Broome County Family Day Celebrates Breastfeeding Support
Broome County families are invited to a free event in Binghamton during National Breastfeeding Month.The fourth annual Breastfeeding Awareness Family Day will be taking place on Friday, August 14, from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m.
Where the Event Will Be Held
The event will be held outside the Broome County Health Department at 225 Front Street in Binghamton. It is free to attend and open to the whole family.
Help and Activities Will Be Available
This will be an excellent opportunity for the families to meet local breastfeeding peer counselors and everyone will be able to learn about health and wellness programs in the community. The day will also include hands-on activities created to support parents and growing families.
Families Should Feel Supported
Michelle Figuerado, Nutrition Services Director with Broome County WIC, said families need support from the people around them. This event is a perfect way to give parents a place to talk about their feeding experiences, find helpful resources, and connect with others.
What WIC Offers
The Broome County WIC Program is offering free virtual and in-person appointments to people who qualify. WIC provides health checks, nutrition education, breastfeeding support, and vouchers that can be used to buy healthy foods. The program serves pregnant and postpartum women, infants, and children up to age five.
