Each fall season, I LOVE NY keeps track of the fall foliage progress throughout the Empire State. This week marks the seventh report for New York State, obtained from over 100 volunteer field observers who reflect expected color conditions for the coming weekend.
Reports are released each Wednesday, and this is the report for the weekend of October 31-November 1. Peak time is described as the best overall appearance the foliage will have during the season. Observers take into account color transition, brilliance, and leaf droppage.

Fall Report For This Weekend

According to I LOVE NY, this weekend is being reported as a spectacular peak foliage throughout most of the Finger Lakes area, along with the central and lower portions of the Hudson Valley, plus many locations on Long Island.
Final peak fall color appearances this weekend are expected for the Thousand Islands-Seaway, Greater Niagara and Central New York regions. New York City is at the midpoint of change, according to field reports from volunteer observers for the Empire State Development Division of Tourism’s I LOVE NY program.

Local Observations

Locally, observers are noticing that the most significant changes are occurring in the Binghamton and Elmira regions, in addition to several other New York State areas including Seneca Falls, Buffalo, Niagara Falls and Oswego, to name a few.
