The Otsego County Steampunk and Oddities Expo held this weekend at Oneonta's Fortin Park was a captivating fusion of Victorian-era aesthetics, eccentric innovation, and a touch of the bizarre. Held right in the heart of Otsego County, this annual event attracts enthusiasts from far and wide, drawn by its unique blend of retro-futuristic fashion, curious contraptions, and imaginative storytelling.

As I entered into the event, I was transported to a world where gears turn, airships soar, and time seems to dance to its own unique timbre. The air was thick with the scent of leather and brass, mingling with the sounds of music, stories and hearty laughter.

One of the highlights of the Expo is its vibrant marketplace, where vendors showcase their handcrafted marvels. From intricate steampunk jewelry to fantastical gadgets straight out of a Jules Verne novel, there is no shortage of treasures to marvel at and acquire. Visitors can also indulge their taste for the macabre with various oddities dealers, where curiosities from around the world beckon with promises of mystery and intrigue. We asked, none accepted bottle caps at this time.

There was also an author's alley, where independent local and regional authors displayed their works and interacted with patrons.

But the Otsego County Steampunk and Oddities Expo is more than just a marketplace—it's an immersive experience. Throughout the event, performers wowed the audience. From dancing hags to indigenous stories, to acoustic and even pop music, eclectic is the name of the game at this event.

Whether you're a seasoned steampunk aficionado or simply curious to glimpse a world where past, present, and future collide in a haze of steam and gears, the Otsego County Steampunk and Oddities Expo was an unforgettable journey into the realms of imagination. I'm definitely already looking forward to the 2025 edition!
