Giving Tuesday: SQSPCA’s Year End Fundraiser Starts Today
The Susquehanna Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals (SQSPCA) is gearing up to launch its annual year-end fund campaign, Promise for Parkie, on Giving Tuesday, December 3. From then until December 31, shelter supporters Beth and Gary Glynn will match every $20,000 raised with an additional $5,000, up to a total of $100,000. This matching challenge has the potential to raise an extra $25,000 for the SQSPCA, making a tremendous impact on its mission to support animals in need.
“This is our biggest campaign of the year, and it determines the services we can provide,” said Executive Director Stacie Haynes. “Thanks to the Glynns’ generosity, we have an incredible opportunity to meet our $100,000 goal and continue offering the high-quality care that animals in our region deserve.”
The campaign is named in memory of the Glynns’ beloved dachshund, Parker, and reflects their deep love for animals, particularly their family pets. Haynes emphasized the importance of this effort, stating, “With the support of compassionate individuals and the Glynns’ matching gift, now is the perfect time to contribute.”
Donations to the SQSPCA enable vital services, including low-cost spay/neuter and vaccination clinics for the public, veterinary support for other animal shelters, and initiatives like the shelter-to-shelter program and trap-neuter-vaccinate-return services for community cats. This year, SQSPCA has provided 55 services for 53 animals through these efforts.
“Contributions allow us to help animals both in our shelter and throughout the region,” Haynes said. “With our state-of-the-art medical clinic and dedicated veterinary team, we are able to provide exceptional care to animals and keep families united with their pets.”
Adding to the holiday spirit, the SQSPCA will also host its Kennel-Free Christmas initiative from December 3 to December 31. During this time, adopters will receive 25% off adoption fees, encouraging more animals to find loving homes for the holidays.
Located at 5082-5088 State Highway 28, just north of Cooperstown, the SQSPCA’s state-of-the-art facility, “Fenton and Nanette’s House,” was made possible by the Glynns’ generosity during the SHELTER US Capital Campaign. Open Tuesday through Saturday from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m., the shelter invites the public to visit, meet adoptable animals, and make contributions in person or by mail. Donations can also be made securely online at www.sqspca.org/donate.
“We know how much our community cares about animals, and we hope they’ll join us in making this year’s campaign a success,” Haynes concluded. “Every gift makes a difference in helping us provide critical services for animals in need.”
