Heart disease is still the number one cause of death for women, and yet it’s something many of us don’t think about nearly enough. That’s why every February, American Heart Association and Lite 98.7 team up to shine a big, bold red spotlight on women’s heart health through the Go Red for Women campaign.

This year’s Glow Red for Women takes place Thursday, February 6, and it’s all about awareness, education, and simple actions that can literally save lives.

Why Go Red for Women

Here’s the part that really hits home: more than 80% of cardiac events are preventable. That means small lifestyle changes, better awareness, and knowing the warning signs can make a massive difference.

Go Red for Women focuses on educating women about heart disease risks, encouraging prevention and early detection, and empowering women to take control of their heart health.

Heart Disease in Women: What You Need to Know

Heart disease doesn’t always look the same in women as it does in men, and that’s part of the danger.

Important facts to know:

  • Heart disease kills more women each year than all cancers combined

  • Many symptoms in women are subtle and often overlooked

  • Warning signs can include fatigue, nausea, shortness of breath, jaw pain, or back pain

Understanding these differences can lead to earlier treatment and better outcomes. For prevention tips and symptom information, visit GoRedForWomen.org.
