Free Lunch & Listen Concert Series Returns to Munson This August

If you're looking for a relaxing way to spend your lunch break this August, Munson is bringing back one of its most popular summer traditions.

The Lunch & Listen series returns every Friday in August, and offers a free hour of live music inside Munson Museum of Art's Root Court in Utica. Each performance begins at noon and is inspired by the museum's current exhibition, Watercolor Stories: Art of Charles E. Burchfield, which is on display through Sept. 13.

Classical Music Inspired by Charles Burchfield

The series pairs performances from talented local musicians with readings from artist Charles E. Burchfield's personal letters and journals.

Burchfield often wrote to friend Edward Root about the composers he admired, making the concerts a unique extension of the exhibition. Visitors can expect music from legendary composers like Beethoven, Sibelius, and more while learning about the artist's creative influences.

The series kicks off Friday, Aug. 7, with a performance by the Alliance Woodwind Trio, featuring Elizabeth Evans playing the flute, Kristin Kelly Hahn on clarinet and Judy Marchione with the bassoon.

Bring Your Lunch, Or Order One

Guests are welcome to bring their own lunch and enjoy the music, or they can purchase a boxed lunch from The Terrace at Munson. Boxed lunches must be ordered by 4 p.m. the day before each performance by calling 315-927-8559.
