The project has a targeted opening for the 2027 summer season.
The upcoming installation will replace the park’s existing wading pool. Originally constructed in 1995, the 30-year-old pool has suffered from significant mechanical issues in recent years and has finally reached the end of its operational life.

A Community Request
The push for the new water feature didn't just come from city officials, it came straight from the community.
During the city’s recent Parks Master Plan process, a splash pad was highlighted as one of the most frequently requested amenities by local residents.
Mayor Lanigan emphasized that improving Rome’s parks was a major campaign promise, noting that local kids and families deserve top-tier opportunities for outdoor recreation and making lasting summer memories.
Funded for the Future
Bringing this highly anticipated project to life is being made possible through a collaborative financial effort.

The Guyer Field splash pad will be backed by Community Development Block Grant funds, alongside a generous $125,000 grant secured by Assemblywoman Marianne Buttenschon.
After years of residents advocating for modern water amenities, the city is officially ready to deliver.
