Free agency is starting next week in the NFL. It's time for players to get paid and for teams to start filling holes in their rosters. What are the worst free agent signings you can remember from the Buffalo Bills?

As a football fan, this time of year can actually be just as exciting as the regular season. Seeing where players end up shuffling off to and how much they're able to get signed for can be shocking. But when your team ends up signing a player for a huge amount of money, and then they end up being a dud, it feels like a bad beat in poker. It's like driving away from a car dealership and seeing every light on the dashboard light up.

Buffalo has had some quitters

In the past, the Bills have had a few players who have just quit on the team. Some players have gotten signed and then changed their minds, and then there are the ones who have literally gone into the locker room at halftime and just taken off their pads and called it a career. Normally, these are players who have been in the league for a while and just decided that football isn't what they want to spend their time doing anymore.

They've also had some who just haven't lived up to the hype

Free agency is an opportunity for some of these players to get a raise in the league. They've proven what they can do on other teams and when they get to their new team, fans are expecting more of the same. There are a lot of reasons why they might not live up to it. Age is certainly a factor. That's not a shot at these players. But as we get older, things happen to slow down, and in football, that can kill your career.

The scheme is another reason why they might not live up to the hype. Sometimes players' abilities don't match what their new team is trying to accomplish.

Regardless of why they weren't a good fit, the Bills have had their fair share of players who just never lived up to the hype.  Here are just 5 of them.
