Severe Weather For Portions Of New York State

As the new week starts, there are some portions of New York State that will be getting some severe weather conditions.

The summer of 2024 has been hot! July went down as one of the hottest on record and August has delivered more of the same. However, this month has also brought back considerable humidity and that is fueling some thunderstorms!

Central New York will be getting storms that could become severe, bringing damaging winds, large hail, and heavy rain.

The National Weather Service has predicted that: "A few isolated thunderstorms remain across the area this evening. Tomorrow will see another active day as severe thunderstorms will be possible during the afternoon and early evening hours".

There are some places in New York State that are still picking up from the damage caused by tornadoes and strong storms two weeks ago. New York State Senator, Chuck Schumer, is calling for a new warning and alert system to help prepare for these storms in the future.

The heat and humidity should be subsiding over the next few days and a more comfortable type of weather will be heading in!
