New York State Thruway Tributes Dolly Parton This Weekend

The New York State Thruway Authority is honoring the legendary entertainer Dolly Parton this weekend. You may have seen it already but on the 90 throughout New York State there are lyrics that have references to the Dolly Parton and Kenny Rogers song "Islands in the Stream".

While going down the 33 in Western New York you might have noticed the lyrics to Jolene as well. On Transit Road you might have seen a billboard or two that read "Goodbye, Dolly".

It is a testament of how much and how widely loved Dolly Parton was. Dolly passed away from a short Battle of cancer and if anything defines the entertainer this final story might be it: Dolly's sister took the social media to post that even as dolly was dying she told the doctors and the Cancer Center in Nashville that if there was a way that they could learn by using experimental drugs on her that would potentially help people down the road that they should do it.

It seems like almost every major celebrity had posted or sang a Dolly song if they were performing out in public this weekend. Surely, the Country Music Association is going to honor Dolly Parton at the CMA Awards coming up in November it might be the most to watch CMA Awards ever to see the tribute.

When are the CMA Awards 2027?

The CMA Awards are a little later than usual. This year the award show will happen in Nashville on wednesday, November 18th.

We have a theory on who might be helping to honor Dolly at the award show and it relates to the possible halftime performer at the Super Bowl as well. Dolly's granddaughter was performer Miley Cyrus who spends a lot of time in Nashville and if Cyrus is tapped to tribute Dolly at the CMA Awards, it could possibly be the right timing for the NFL to announce her as the Super Bowl halftime show as well considering that both the award show and the big game are on the same channel this year.
