The Most Valuable Vintage Christmas Decorations
We are just days away from Christmas Day! Across Western New York, you can feel the holiday spirit everywhere, from the sledding hills to the department stores and the local boutiques. Everyone is getting ready for the big day. Have you decorated yet? Have you unpacked those special, unforgettable memories tucked inside each Christmas box? Some of those decorations may be worth more than just warm memories.
The Meaning Behind Those Old Christmas Ornaments
Maybe I take it too seriously, but we were decorating our tree the other day and the kids were not being gentle with the ornaments. Some of these glass ornaments are more than 70 years old, some maybe even older. The value isn’t just in their age. I can still picture my parents carefully hanging each and every ornament. We didn’t even decorate the tree until Christmas Eve!
Fast-forward a bunch of years, and now with four kids of my own, those memories, and those ornament, mean even more. We’ve also added so many special new ones: our son’s first Christmas ornament, the first ornament our daughter made, and countless others that now hang on the tree with the same care.
The Christmas Decorations That Could Be Worth Thousands
Beyond the tree, there are decorations that come out every year that may hold real monetary value. Even if you’d never sell them because they mean too much, it’s still fascinating to know their worth.
More: Do You have these rare ornaments?
If you’ve ever owned a Hummel figurine collection, or if your grandmother did, you might be sitting on a surprisingly valuable treasure. Some Hummel pieces, if they’re rare and in excellent condition, can bring in thousands of dollars. And knowing most grandmothers, many of these figurines have been stored properly and taken care of with incredible attention over the years.
What Your Hummel Figurines Might Be Worth
Take a look at some of the values out there for these figurines just for fun. It’s neat to realize what may have been handed down from generation to generation. As you display them this season, take good care of them and remember that someone originally bought them with the hope that they’d be preserved and passed along.
Enjoy the Magic of the Season
Everyone says the Christmas season goes by too fast, and that’s true. So maybe it’s time to slow down for a moment. Sit with those ornaments or figurines and realize they are more than decorations. They are true treasures, reminders of family, tradition, and generations of love.
