Line of Totality Crosses at Walden + Transit Road
The big day is today!
There are tons of people that are expected to be around Western New York today for the total solar eclipse.
According to the National Solar Observatory, the path of totality will be going over the intersection of Transit and Walden in Depew. The experience you are going to have ANYTHWERE in Western New York, though, is going to look the same.
Just because you are a few miles away from the actual line doesn't mean that you will not see the eclipse as well.
As of this morning, the weather for the solar eclipse is not looking great to view. The forecast is cloudy and there is not a great chance that the clouds will break in time for totality.
READ MORE: Here are a few things that are important to note if you are watching the solar eclipse in New York State:
- Gas Stations across the New York State Thruway and surrounding areas are topping off to make sure it can handle the influx of people
- Campgrounds are 100% sold out for the night before the eclipse at all New York State Parks.
- The New York State campgrounds are sold out 93% at capacity for Monday night. At that point the eclipse will be over.
- New York State is reminding you that cell phones might be overloaded and might not work. But, it is important to note that 911 WILL ALWAYS WORK. The officials reminded (joked?) that being stuck in traffic is not a true emergency.
