WARNING: Heat Advisories Issued Across New York State

Today, it is going to be hot and humid across New York State, and due to those conditions, the first heat advisories of the year have been issued for parts of New York State.

Heat Advisories In Place For Parts Of New York State

We are looking at very humid conditions, and that will lead the heat indexes across the state to rise past the 90+ degrees mark, which has led officials with the National Weather Service to issue heat advisories for parts of New York State.

Heat advisories are issued when temperatures and humidity combine to create dangerous, "feels-like" conditions that could cause heat-related illnesses.

Heat advisories are in place for Niagara, Orleans, Monroe, Wayne, Northern Cayuga, Livingston, and Ontario counties in Western New York. The advisory will start at noon today and go until 8 pm.

Downstate, there is a heat advisory in place from Noon today until 8 pm on Friday for Northern Fairfield, New Haven, Middlesex, Suffolk, and Nassau counties.

The feel like temperatures in those areas could hit the 90s and above, and if you have to be outdoors, officials are urging you to use caution, find shade when possible, and stay hydrated.
