You have probably received a gas or electric bill recently that seem sway too high! Here in New York State, the reports are that it is only going to get worse as the utility companies are planning a 20% hike in costs.

The warmer weather is here and the furnaces are taking a backseat to the AC in New York. Although the heating costs are not a factor, the price to cool your home is also going up.

But New York State's Governor is not happy with the rise in prices.

As we get ready for the summer routine, families may not be thinking about the cost of utilities as they are swamped with summer camps, road trips and other fun things. But the increase in price is looming.

What Is The Governor Saying?

According to reports, Governor Kathy Hochul is speaking out against the higher prices. Syracuse.com stated that: "...Hochul says it’s “not OK” that a proposed deal National Grid negotiated with state regulators would raise electric rates for the typical household by 20% over three years and 27% for natural gas customers".

Will this end the threat of a price increase? Most doubt that it will. However, there may be some relief coming soon.

Refund Checks In New York State

While this is happening, the Governor also is planning to send out inflation refund checks this fall.
