The first average price for a gallon of gas has hit parts of Western New York. According to AAA, one county in Western New York is seeing above $4 per gallon of gas prices for the first time in years.

Gas Prices Hit Above $4 Per Gallon In Western New York

As of Monday, March 30th, the first county in Western New York to see the average price of a gallon of regular unleaded gas hit above $4 is Orleans County. The average price for a gallon of regular gas, at the time of this writing, was $4.002.

The good news is that every other county in Western New York is still below the $4 per gallon price. The cheapest gas in the area can be found in Cattaraugus County, where the average price is at $3.76

Erie County - $3.957
Niagara County - $3.894
Chautauqua County - $3.897
Gennesse County - $3.937
Wyoming County - $3.925

Those are still the lowest prices in the entire state of New York, where the overall average price for a gallon of regular unleaded gas is at $3.949

The national average for a gallon of regular unleaded gas is $4.018

Highest Gas Prices In New York State

The highest average price of gas in New York State is located in Essex County, where a gallon of regular unleaded gas is going for $4.256 per gallon.

Gas prices are expected to continue to rise as the war in Iran continues, and a major jump will come in May when gas suppliers need to switch to the "summer blend" of gas, which costs more to produce and will end up costing more at the pump.
