Damar Hamlin Collapsing May Have Saved A 3 Year Old’s Life

They say everything happens for a reason.  Even the things that seem like a tragedy can sometimes bring about positive change.

People around the world watched as Damar Hamlin escaped a possibly fatal heart attack on the field.  He was playing safety for the Buffalo Bills as they took on the Cincinnati Bengals during a highly contested Monday Night Football game.  Hamlin was able to get a stop by tackling Tee Higgins, but the blow to Hamlin's chest was one that stopped his heart on the field.

The trainers were on the field in an instant and immediately started working on Hamlin shortly after he collapsed.  They've been praised for saving his life because they knew immediately how to handle the situation and jumped right into it.

Their quick thinking not only saved Hamlin's life, but it also encouraged teams to train their medical staff to make sure that they would respond the same way if it was one of their players on the field.

The training sessions may have saved a three-year-old's life

According to TMZ, Raheem Morris, a defensive coordinator for the L.A. Rams was at a hotel pool recently when a little boy was saved from drowning.  When he was pulled from the water, his heart had stopped.

The on-site lifeguard jumped in right away to provide CPR.

Meanwhile Morris started to think about his training and immediately began looking for the closest AED machine.  He ran for it and said, ""When I got back, we had a doctor on site that was able to start the compressions. I was able to hand the AED to him, get it open for him, put the pads on the child, and he ended up being OK."

Rams COO Kevin Demoff believes it was the training that was given because of Hamlin that saved that little boy's life.

Hamlin has since returned to practice with the Bills and intends to continue his career in professional football.
