The Buffalo Sabres have won five straight games, after their 3-2 victory over the Winnipeg Jets on Thursday night.

The Sabres have won five consecutive games, twice in one season for the first time since the 2007-2008 season, when Ryan Miller, Thomas Vanek, Jason Pominville and Derek Roy were on the team.

What's so impressive with this Sabres team is that they are so good on the road and are one of the most lethal teams on offense. Tage Thompson is on pace for nearly 60 goals and over 100 points, while Alex Tuch and Rasmus Dahlin could push 100 points. Dylan Cozens is having a breakout season and Jeff Skinner is having a terrific season as well.

The only real question mark on the roster is goaltending. It's currently a three-way monster of Ukko-Pekka Luukkonen, Craig Anderson and Eric Comrie. General manager Kevyn Adams said on WGR radio last week that they will look to sign prospect Devon Levi once his college season at Northeastern University is through, which will be sometimes in early March.

The Sabres are now just 2 points out of the final Wild Card spot in the Eastern Conference, and they are 3 points back of the Washington Capitals for the first wild card spot, but Buffalo has three games in hand on Washington, meaning they control their own playoff destiny with 33 games remaining.

The Sabres have now skyrocketed by a 56 percent chance to make the postseason, according to Money Puck dot com.

The Sabres next play the Minnesota Wild on Saturday night. Puck drop is at 9 pm. It's the final game of the Sabres five-game road trip.

The NHL trading deadline is March 3rd and it stands to reason the Sabres will be buyers this year.
