The offseason is always full of uncertainty

This is an exciting time of year for football fans.  It's the offseason and there are a ton of questions for every team. Who will be coming back?  Who will we, unfortunately, lose due to the cap?  Who will we be able to steal from other teams?

Brandon Beane has been pretty good over the last couple of years with keeping good players.  For decades it felt like we were constantly farming new players to go to other cities and become stars.  But that changed when Beane arrived in Buffalo.

This year could be different

This year could be a tough year for Beane to be able to hold on to all the players that have become so good during their tenure here.  Two players that have become a hot topic of conversation this off-season are Jordan Poyer and Tremaine Edmunds.  Both are stars on the defense and would create big holes that will have to be filled.  But it won't be easy.  They will rightfully be highly sought-out players as contracts begin to be signed.

Two players reach an agreement before they become free agents

Yesterday, the Bills were able to extend Matt Milano and lock him in here in Buffalo through the 2026 season.

Today, they were able to lock in two more.  Both of them are special teams players.  The first is punter Sam Martin.

Martin was brought in at the last minute before the 2022-2023 season after abruptly cutting their major prospect Matt Araiza following sexual assault allegations.  Martin was able to average 47.7 yards per attempt last year.  They will lock him in for 3 more years.

The other player was Linebacker/Special Teams player Tyler Matekevich.  We got Matekevich from Pittsburgh three seasons ago and has been a beast on special teams.  They agreed to one extra year for Matekevich.
