As we get ready for school to start school, a family is reporting a scary break in attempt at their home in the Western New York Southtowns.

The cooler air is expected to arrive on Labor Day and most people are getting ready for the annual fall routine. This year, when you are doing your back to school inventory, it may be a good time to consider adding a few more security devices to the list.

This past weekend, a resident in the Village of Hamburg reported a scary scenario in which a would be thief tried to enter the home after 2am. According to the resident's report and, and a source, the thief stopped by the home earlier the day before asking to "detail a car". A camera caught the thief trying to open a locked entry door.

Police in the Town of Hamburg have also been busy this summer. In just one week, in the moth of August, the Town of Hamburg Police reported 812 calls for service.

The start of a new month, and the beginning of the school year, may be a Greta time to check on security cameras, locks and lighting to help keep your place safe. The busy routine is about to begin and thieves are just looking and waiting for an opportunity.
