Now that September is here and we are finally starting to get some cooler weather, the best part of New York State is about to flourish!

When the leaves begin to change and the vibrant colors of fall come out, New York State may be one of the best places in the country to experience autumn.

When was the last time you were on a mountain? When was the last time you took a hike through the woods in New York State?

New York has plenty of flat land, and there may be good reasons for that. However, we also live in a state filled with incredible natural resources that we can take advantage of, and many of them are absolutely free!

Exploring the Adirondack Park With the Family

Recently, we took the family to visit the Adirondack Park. With millions of acres of forests, mountains, lakes, rivers and streams, it is truly a wonderland for outdoor adventures.

Our first family mountain hike was Mount Arab, and it was an amazing experience. Getting the kids out into the woods and experiencing the mountains together is something we will always remember.

We also took a ride up to the summit of Whiteface Mountain.

The Incredible View From the Top of Whiteface Mountain

If you have never been to the top of Whiteface Mountain, you are missing out on one of New York State’s most spectacular attractions.

The view on the day we visited was incredible. We could see for at least 70 miles! I am told that on an exceptionally clear day, it is possible to see as far as Mount Washington, which is more than 125 miles away.

When we opened the doors at the top of the elevator, the entire family was shocked by the incredible view. It was breathtaking, to say the least, and my video does not really do it justice.

However, you can clearly see in the video just how close the clouds appeared to be. At times, it felt like you could reach out and touch them!

Making Family Memories in the Adirondacks

Being on Whiteface Mountain was such a thrill and created another great memory for our family.

It was not the first time we have been to the top of the mountain, and it certainly will not be the last. However, it was the first time we experienced weather that was so clear and the first time we took the elevator and opened those doors to what felt like a view of heaven.

I encourage anyone who visits New York State, or even those of us who live here, to take a trip to the Adirondacks or simply explore the incredible natural resources in your own neck of the woods.

You do not always have to travel far or spend a lot of money to make incredible memories with your family. Sometimes, the best adventures are right here in New York State.

Let the fall begin...and let the memories begin, too!
