Another Chain Store Has Started Shutting Down Stores Immediately in New York State

Another chain has started shutting down stores right away before the 2025 season.

Like many chain stores in the United States, the Dollar General is struggling. They are shutting down stores all over and some in New York State. The Dollar General has a sign at one of the Cheektowaga locations. More locations are set to close by the end of 2025. The chain previously announced that all of their 19,000 stores will be closed on Christmas this year.

Earlier this year, Dollar General shut down 51 stores abruptly.

In an earnings announcement last week, Dollar General shared that its profits had declined 20.2% from $468.8 million in 2023 to $374.2 million this year.

 

The drop in the retailer's net income comes as shoppers struggle to make ends meet in the current economic climate, according to Dollar General CEO Todd Vasos.

 

Dollar General's main customer base is low-income consumers, who have been hit the hardest by inflation", according to the-sun.com.
