Huntington Memorial Library to Celebrate “National Library Week”
Huntington Memorial Library in Oneonta will celebrate "National Library Week" fro April 7-13, 2019.
Oneonta's library is over a century old. On February 9, 1893 it received its library charter from the State of New York. In 1919, Henry E. Huntington proposed donating his residential mansion and surrounding grounds to the city for the purpose of a public library. His only stipulation was that the library be named Huntington Memorial Library in honor of his parents. On January 1, 1918 the city received the deed for the house and property.
The library will be honoring their staff all week long in honor of this celebration.
Librarian Tina Winstead hopes city residents will stop by the library and check out the facility, its new renovations and to thank the staff for all they do.
