Controversy surrounded Monday’s opening of the Delaware County Fair as a group of around 50 people protested the sale of Confederate flags on the fairgrounds. The group called “Fair for All” had a letter with 600 signatures on it that they wanted to deliver to Fair officials but were not successful in getting it through the gates.

In 2015 the New York State Fair banned sales of merchandise bearing the Confederate battle flag and the following year the Otsego County Fair instituted its own ban.
