New York State now requires law enforcement agencies statewide to report an officer involved shooting within six hours after it occurred according to a press release from Governor Cuomo's Office. The new legislation also requires courts to compile and publish racial and other demographic data of all low-level offenses along with requiring police officers to wear body cameras and provide medical and mental health attention to individuals in custody. These new regulations add on to a requirement that police departments come up with reforms or face losing state aid.
