In news that affects your wallet, a New York State program that doles out millions of dollars in tax credits to companies that promise to add jobs in the state can’t confirm whether participating companies are adding jobs, or if they even qualify for the program they’re in. The Excelsior Jobs Program was audited by the state comptroller. New York gave nearly $550 million in tax credits to 328 businesses to create 34,000 new jobs in New York. The programs administrator’s record keeping can’t verify if the businesses met their obligations.
