State police responded to a report of a small aircraft landing in an open field in the town of Chenango Forks Tuesday. The aircraft was a single engine experimental Cub owned and piloted by 62 year old John H. Sherman of Lisle, NY.

Sherman was in flight from Chenango Bridge to Georgetown, NY  when his aircraft experienced engine failure over the Chenango Forks area. He was able to land in an open field without injury or damage to other property. The aircraft suffered a broken propeller. The FAA was contacted and released the aircraft, which was secured by police until towed away by its owner.
