Over the weekend Cherry Valley turned into the home where the Buffalo roam after between 80 to 100 of the large animals, each weighing on average about 2500 pounds,  escaped through a fence in the Honey Hill Road area.

According to AllOTSEGO, neighbors in the area where the buffalo escaped from are very concerned since these large animals are dangerous.  They tend to be aggressive and will charge.  They can run as fast as 35 mph and will charge through just about any fencing.  The rogue herd has been damaging properties and some residents are carrying shotguns in case they need to protect themselves. Officers from the NYS Department of Environmental Conservation and New York State Police got involved and are stepping in to help.
