The New York State Office of Temporary and Disability Assistance announced that $6 million is now available to help low-income residents who suffer from serious health issues exacerbated by heat to obtain assistance to pay for cooling equipment. The cooling assistance through the Home Energy Assistance Program provides an air conditioner to eligible households. To qualify for the federally-funded program, applicants must meet existing HEAP eligibility criteria and income guidelines. Go to otda.ny.gov for details.
