SUNY Oneonta’s Center For Social Responsibility and Community is teaming up with the Southside Mall in Oneonta for the 9th annual Canstruction event.   Canstruction encourages groups to collect canned food items which they then use to build something creative.  All the food ends up being donated to local food pantries.  It's a fun competition to encourage innovation, teamwork, and the importance of community service.

According to the rules of the competition, participants must use cans with original labels, and they cannot use glue or anything that will affect the cans during construction. It's amazing what people create by just stacking canned food in certain ways!  Teams will build their structures with cans on April 6 and 7 at the mall and then structures will be on display there April 7 through April 14 for the public to enjoy.

To find out more about participating in this event, contact Linda Drake from SUNY Oneonta’s Center For Social Responsibility and Community at (607) 436-2262 or email: linda.drake@oneonta.edu.  All applications with ideas should be submitted by March 15.
