Attempted Murder In Hartwick Leads To Arrest
The Otsego County Sheriff's Office is reporting the arrest of a man from the state of Kansas who with the intent to kill, struck a pedestrian on NYS Route 28 in the Town of Hartwick Wednesday afternoon.
George K Wang, 23 years old, of Lawrence, Kansas has been charged with:
Attempted Murder in the 2nd degree
Vehicular Assault in the 2nd degree
Operating a Motor Vehicle Impaired by Drugs
Driving While Intoxicated
The hit and run attack happened in a grassy area in front of TOPS Plaza. The victim was not on the roadway. After the Wang hit the person with his car, he fled the scene on Rt. 28, heading south. Police caught up with Wang in the area of State Route 28 and the I88 interchange. His vehicle had sustained extensive front end damage. He was subsequently arrested.
Witnesses at the scene aided the victim who was hit. That victim's name has not been released yet.
Following his arrest, Wang was arraigned at the Otsego County Cap Court and is held at the Otsego County Jail on a three hundred thousand dollar secure bond. The victim is listed as in stable condition and is being treated for multiple injuries sustained during the incident.
