The large mastiff that had been abandoned on a back road in Franklin and later rescued by animal control is now ready for adoption, according to the Delaware Valley Humane Society Facebook page.

The Humane Society is now accepting adoption applications for this "gentle giant," which has been named "Big Ben" or "Benny". They will choose the adoptive family at the end of the week.

To contact the Delaware Valley Humane Society call 607-563-7780.

Adoption fees for unspayed, unneutered dogs are $90. This includes a $40.00 adoption fee, a $35.00 spay/neuter fee, which IS refunded to you after you have them spayed/neutered. A $15.00 license fee is also included.

Spayed and neutered dogs are $66.00. This is a $60.00 adoption fee, and licensing is then only $6.00.

The Humane Society also has several dozen cats and dogs ready for adoption now. Visit http://www.dvhumane.org/ for more information.

There have been no arrests made in the investigation into who may have abandoned Benny.
