The Otsego County Department of Health has reported that 3 Bassett Healthcare Network employees tested positive for the coronavirus according to AllOTSEGO. Bassett Spokesperson Karen Huxtable-Hooker, says that “It appears that the employees contracted COVID-19 outside of work" and that Bassett is working with NY Dept. of Health and Otsego County Dept. of Health.

It’s not clear where the first worker contracted COVID-19 but that individual came in contact with a family member who also works at Bassett. The third case was confirmed through contact tracing.

As a precaution, some Bassett elective procedures have been canceled as the contact tracing and follow-up testing continue.

As of yesterday, The Otsego County Department of Health reported these COVID-19 numbers:
886 total confirmed cases
17 active cases
1 hospitalization
7 deaths
714 cases linked to SUNY Oneonta (students or close contacts of students)
19 confirmed cases in Hartwick College students
