The Hudson River, "America's Rhine," flows from deep in the Adirondacks south to New York City.  Along the way history and beauty are writ large in the small towns and villages on either side of the river.  This is a list of 11 of the best smaller towns along the Hudson.  There are many, but this list is just a reflection of all of them put together.  Each has great history, things to do and see, and amazing natural beauty.  We have purposely kept our spotlight on the smaller places, although the big cities like Kingston, Albany, Poughkeepsie, Troy, etc. are amazing in their own right.  We love our Hudson River, and we love these little towns along its 315-mile journey to the sea.
