The Yankees got off to a nice start in a four-game home set with Toronto.  New York slugged three home runs and Hiroki Kuroda settled in for his third win of the season in a 5-3 triumph over the Blue Jays.  Kuroda continues to be one of the best stories in baseball.  He signed a one-year deal with New York after pitching with the Dodgers in the NL West, and then signed another one to return to the Bronx in 2013.  He has been great for the Yanks, an instant rotation stabilizer and was exactly that yet again against Toronto on this night.  Kuroda survived through six innings, allowing three runs on six hits and settled down after the quick home runs by Edwin Encarnacion (two-run homer) and Brett Lawrie (solo blast) in the first two innings.

Robinson Cano's three-run home run, Vernon Wells' solo home run and Francisco Cervelli's solo shot were enough.  Mark Buehrle took the loss for Toronto.  Mariano Rivera notched his seventh save of the season.
