When they turned down the old Oneonta High School on Academy Street to move to the new location (back in the 1960s) it must have been a massive construction, or destruction, project.

The giant school had a hug footprint in the downtown area.  A couple of stories high, it was filled with high ceilings, wood floors, great old electrical accoutrements (can you imagine how much those old lights would be worth today?).  Sweeping walnut staircases.  Yes, it must have been quite a project tearing the old thing down.

But what always mystified me is what ever happened to the large marble statue of a horseman (Paul Revere?) that sat in the large center of the old high school (called "the well")?  I simply cannot imagine somebody just tossing that beautiful old statue into the trash.  I have always wondered if it sits forlornly in somebody's old barn or garage just waiting "to ride again."

Any idea where this statue ended up?
