Western Catskills Film Fest Now Seeking Submissions

The Great Western Catskills International Film Festival has announced its inaugural festival dates and locations. This brand-new festival will make its debut in the town of Andes, New York in Delaware County, New York on Friday, October 19^th through Sunday, October 21^st. Screenings and events, including a spotlight on local filmmakers with appearances from those creators, will be hosted throughout the hamlet of Andes through the three days with the three primary locations slated to be Wayside Cider Tap Room at 55 Redden Lane, The Andes Hotel at 110 Main Street and Streamside Studio at 506 Main Street, all in Andes.

The Great Western Catskills International Film Festival is seeking submission from filmmakers in the categories of narrative feature, documentary feature, narrative short, documentary short, animated short and young filmmakers shorts (students under 21). Submissions are currently being accepted on through Film Freeway and Without a Box with a deadline of July 13, 2018. Accepted films will be notified in August 2018.

“As a film lover and filmmakers, we are excited to put on a festival to celebrate both,” explains Wisely who is currently acting as business manager on multiple projects by acclaimed filmmaker Jehane Noujaim. The festival’s co-founder and lead programmer is James Felix McKenney, an independent filmmaker who produced a number of films for Larry Fessenden’s Glass Eye Pix. “In addition to the screenings of the selected films, we plan on having a variety of filmmaker-focused events and parties.
