New York plans to use its part of the settlement reached in the Volkswagen diesel emissions cheating scandal for funding clean transportation initiatives. The state received $128 million in 2016 which officials say some of which will go toward putting more electric vehicles and buses on the road. The German automaker was fined for installing software in the diesel vehicle computer controls which resulted in falsified EPA test results.
